The Lower Herbert is a wonderful river to paddle in the wet season. It's constantly moving and has no portages. It's not deep, but canoes don't need a lot of water. We ran it with two other boats of some people we met online. It took a few hours to do at a very leisurely pace. The route was about 18km long althoguh my GPS did not record properly from it's pelican case. Nothing outrageously exciting occurred on this trip. I stayed dry unlike the last time I ran this section of this river when we hit a sweeper in a dangerous area. Lost my gps and took 30 minutes to get the boat out. We survived it, but it was nice to do the same run again and not have the river try to kill you. I guess it goes to show how dangerous some rivers can be when they come off as tame. Happy Paddling!
